Workshop Overview
Child mental health clinicians face an urgent crisis: traditional modalities often struggle to de-escalate severe disruptive behaviors before family systems fracture. The Disruptive Behavior Reset introduces a revolutionary, evidence-informed approach that merges cutting-edge Heart Rate Variability (HRV) biofeedback with experiential play therapy. By targeting the autonomic nervous system directly, this innovative model equips children to achieve rapid, lasting emotional self-regulation.
Participants will take a deep dive into recognizing, tracking, and interrupting Patterson and Forgatch’s classic Coercion Cycle—the primary engine driving disruptive family dynamics. You will learn to assess how HRV directly dictates a child’s physiological capacity for regulation and master two distinct clinical tools to track and identify underlying HRV irregularities.
Moving beyond theory into immediate clinical application, this intensive course provides practical skills for introducing Heart-Focused Breathing, as well as high-engagement, non-technology interventions like juggling, physical balance challenges, and movement-based breathwork. Furthermore, you will explore the frontier of pediatric care: utilizing immersive Virtual Reality (VR) headset gaming to rapidly accelerate HRV gains, engagement, and co-regulation in young clients.
Preliminary clinical outcomes for children participating in this protocol demonstrate remarkable, measurable transformations:
33% increase in Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
55% decrease in clinical Aggression
39% decrease in Anxiety symptoms
40% decrease in Depressive symptoms
10% decrease in overall Parenting Stress
Don’t wait to upgrade your clinical toolkit with these state-of-the-art play therapy techniques. Demand for this groundbreaking training is high, and spaces are strictly limited to ensure an optimal, hands-on learning environment. Secure your spot today to transform how you treat complex disruptive behaviors!

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this workshop participants will be able to:Â
- Analyze and track the stages of the Coercion Cycle (Patterson & Forgatch) within play therapy sessions to identify real-time opportunities for behavioral interruption.
- Explain the physiological relationship between Heart Rate Variability (HRV), autonomic nervous system state, and emotional regulation capabilities in children in play therapy.
- Utilize two clinical assessment tools to accurately identify, track, and interpret HRV irregularities in play therapy clients.
- Implement Heart-Focused Breathing protocols within play therapy interventions to directly improve physiological regulation.
- Demonstrate three non-technological HRV interventions—including movement, juggling, and balancing exercises—to improve baseline regulation in play therapy sessions.
- Apply VR-based gaming tools within a play therapy framework to rapidly accelerate pediatric HRV performance and self-regulation.
- Synthesize non-tech and tech-assisted HRV strategies into a cohesive, individualized treatment plan for play therapy clients displaying severe disruptive behaviors.
- Evaluate client outcome data—including reductions in aggression, anxiety, and depression—to measure the efficacy of HRV play therapy interventions over time.
